The Rev. John David Barnes is the rector of Trinity Church. J.D. and his wife of over 12 years, Amanda, are both native Alabamians: J.D. is originally from Gadsden and Amanda from Northport. They met while in school at the University of Alabama. They have two sons, Joseph, who is almost 7 years old and a first grader and Samuel, who is all of 2 years old.
J.D. received his Bachelor of Science in the New College of the University of Alabama in 1995. He worked in the field of information systems before discerning a calling to the priesthood. J.D. graduated with his Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest (Austin, Texas) in 2006. He served as an assistant to the rector at St. Thomas in Huntsville for a little over 2 years before settling down in Demopolis.
